I am a dental surgeon passionate about helping patients improve their confidence through high-quality dental care. I currently oversee five practices in and around Durban, including Oasis Dental, my new practice at Zimbali Oasis. I am supported by a skilled team of dental therapists and oral hygienists, whose expertise allows me to focus on more specialised treatments while ensuring patients receive comprehensive, well-rounded care. Residing in Ballito allows for a great balance between a demanding professional life and the relaxed coastal lifestyle.
My interest in dentistry began with a broader passion for healthcare, combined with a strong appreciation for precision, detail, and working with people. What drew me in was the unique combination of science, artistry, and meaningful patient interaction. Over the years, this interest developed into a fulfilling career, focused on patient care and continuous development. I’ve been in the field for several years, gaining experience across both general dentistry and more advanced treatments.
Challenges
One of the main obstacles is balancing patient expectations with what is clinically appropriate. Many patients arrive with anxiety or misconceptions, so clear communication and education are essential. Another challenge is managing multiple practices while maintaining consistent standards across all locations. Fortunately, having a strong, dedicated team makes this far more manageable.
Business philosophy
I focus on patient-first care and clinical integrity. I believe in being transparent and honest, and only recommending treatments that are truly necessary and beneficial. Collaboration with dental therapists and oral hygienists allows us to deliver comprehensive care efficiently, whilst I focus on more specialised procedures. Trust, consistency, and ethical practice are the foundations of everything we do.
Advice
Dentistry is a rewarding profession, but it requires dedication and resilience. I would advise anyone entering the field to focus on developing not only strong clinical skills, but also excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Teamwork is just as important as technical ability. Stay curious, keep learning, and always practise with integrity – because the real reward lies in the difference you make in patients’ lives.
