Country Road Opens Sustainable New Store in Ballito

Country Road has opened its first store in Ballito, bringing the brand’s signature blend of modern design and responsible retail to one of South Africa’s most vibrant coastal communities.

The new store reflects Country Road’s commitment to thoughtful design and sustainability, with the space targeting a 5 Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa. If awarded, this would make it only the second Country Road store in South Africa to achieve the accreditation — a benchmark for environmentally responsible retail design.

The Ballito store follows Country Road’s global store format, which has already achieved 5 Star Green  Star ratings across more than 15 stores in Australia and New Zealand.

The store will showcase Country Road’s latest collections, with a strong focus on the women’s range,  offering versatile, modern pieces designed for everyday wear and effortless style.

Kay Raidoo, Country Manager for Country Road Group South Africa, says the opening marks an important milestone for the brand locally.

“Ballito has long been an important market for us, and we’re incredibly proud to bring the Country  Road experience to this vibrant coastal community. Our ambition is to be a world-leading responsible  lifestyle brand, and that means embedding sustainability into everything we do — from how we design  our products to how we build our stores.”

The store’s design incorporates a range of sustainable materials and finishes, including fixtures made with recycled plastics, carpets created from recycled polyester, upholstery using recycled wool, and locally sourced furniture inspired by Ballito’s coastal surroundings.

Beyond store design, Country Road continues to expand its work in responsible sourcing and circular design. Through its Towards Circularity collection, developed with supplier partner Kashion, the brand has begun transforming textile waste into new garments by recycling cotton from Country Road off-cuts and faulty garments.

Country Road is also working with global traceability partners Oritain and FibreTrace to track key fibres such as Merino wool and cotton back to their origins, supporting improved transparency and responsible farming practices.

The Ballito store offers the full Country Road lifestyle collection across Womenswear, Menswear,  Childrenswear, Accessories and Home, creating a destination for modern Australian-inspired design on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast.

Customers can also expect the elevated service experience that Country Road is known for, with a team dedicated to creating a welcoming, personalised and seamless in-store journey.

The store is now open to customers.
